California Dreamin’ (The Mamas and the Papas) - Jose Feliciano
I now have 5 versions of California Dreamin’ in my iTunes. This isn’t a problem; the problem comes in the form of choosing which one to post. We’ve all heard the original countless times and for good reason. After all, it is classified as one of the top 500 songs of all time. That’s why I wanted to choose a different version.
On my quest I’ve come across the soul-infused Bobby Womack version, a dance remix, and even an orchestral choir version. While it was a tough choice I decided on the Jose Feliciano version because not only is there soul but his personality really shines through. It amazes me that this sound comes from a man that has never seen a guitar.
I was going to wait until winter to post this song but it just hasn’t left my head.

Seriously I can’t gush about The New Division and the brand spanking new LP Shadows enough. The new album which drops 9/27 is so damn good. Exactly what you’d want from a band that created its name based on a love for New Order and Joy Division. If you were a fan of The Rookie then oh you’re gonna be in a huge swoon fest over Shadows. Seriously get ready to SWOON. Soft is just one of those jams that will make you multiple eargasm. And oh yes you can stream the whole album over at Soundcloud.
